Building the operating system for independent forwarders

OEX gives independent freight forwarders the tools to run their whole operation — and opens those tools across a screened network, so members can work and settle together.

The opportunity

Independent forwarders move a huge share of the world's freight, but the software they run on is dated, single-vendor and expensive to adopt — sold per shipment or per seat, with implementations measured in months. OEX rebuilds those daily workflows — rates, shipments, charges, billing, settlement — on a modern platform, and does something the incumbents structurally can't: it opens them across company boundaries.

Tools first, network as the moat

The tools win the customer: a forwarder adopts OEX because it runs their operation better and faster. The network is what compounds — every member makes shared rates, RFQs and on-platform settlement more valuable, and that is very hard for a single-vendor system to copy.

How we think about trust

Three things stay separate on purpose. Access is what you pay for. Trust is earned from verified outcomes and can never be bought. Keeping them apart is what makes the network worth joining. There is one kind of company on OEX — "forwarder", "agent" and "client" are relationships, not account types.

“Familiarity is the adoption strategy. Every screen mirrors a workflow forwarders already know — but opens it across the network.”
